AMD adds image sharpening to Radeon VII, RX Vega GPUs

Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) is at present rolling out for AMD's Vega Vii and RX Vega 56 and 64 GPUs. The feature, which improves image clarity without punishing performance, firs rolled out earlier in September for select Radeon RX 500 and 400 series GPUs.

First pitched equally a feature that could bring better looking games to budget-friendly cards, RIS targets areas of an image that have been softened by post-process furnishings. RIS will sharpen those areas of the paradigm with "most no bear on on functioning," AMD says. From AMD:

RIS delivers new levels of crispness and clarity to in-game visuals that accept been softened by upscaling and post-process effects. When paired with Radeon GPU upscaling, RIS enables precipitous visuals and fluid frame rates for DX12 and Vulkan titles on very high-resolution displays – with virtually no bear upon on gaming operation.

RIS is rolling out to RX Vega and Radeon Vii GPUs via the latest update to the Radeon Adrenaline Software, version 19.9.three, now. Yous can catch this update now via AMD'due south website.
